Notes 4 Home

To help you reconnect  with your inner childlike artist and nurture your soul, a smallish newsletter of such.

Hello amazing friends, and fellow whimsical creative souls,

I hope this note finds you well and that the past month has been good to you. Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for me, one that I’ve hesitated to start for some time but am now embracing wholeheartedly here on my blog. I’ve wrestled with countless drafts, explored alternative platforms, and even doubted my abilities as a writer. Yet, despite these doubts, the words persist like a steady river flowing in late spring, urging me to embark on this journey.

Some of you may know me as an artist and illustrator, others as a photographer of nature, some as a mom with three amazing grown kiddos, or as a wife of a hard-working, incredibly good-natured man. For others you might see me as the human helper to a bundle of rescue puppy energy in Nori, or a lettuce farmer for one happy Tortoise named Toby. However you have come to know me, I am deeply grateful for you. In this space on my blog , I am eager to learn more about you and find a sense of community around creativity and home. I invite you to comment and ask questions and I will try to answer. One thing you may not know about me is that for the past 8 years I have been adventuring around the Western United States with my family  in search of "Home’.  I am excited to share my thoughts and musings from this journey with each note published.

Every so often (hey I’m an artist, not a full time writer), I will have 4 things for you in what I am calling “Notes 4 Home”. Something you might have picked up in my work and that I am passionate about is Home.  In most all of my illustrations, this theme is an underlying string.  Home or the idea of home is something you always carry inside of you, the moments, the memories, and the love. Housing is a common need of everyone, and I believe where you make your space in this world is a part of you. It’s the coziness and familiarity in towns where people live, work, and play. Gardens where they grow, in front yards, backyards, and windowsills. The little details of life, in colors and items that surround you.  In all of this I try to capture the soul of what you feel when you're home.  I believe wholeheartedly that everyone deserves a safe space to call home. A place to laugh, love, sleep, eat, gather, organize, create, study, nourish, breathe, leave, go out into the world, and return Home again and again.

Now that you understand the thoughts behind some of my creative explorations,  I invite you to join me  for “Notes 4 Home.” In each post , you can expect:

1. A cup of Alphabet Soup,

a collection of heartfelt reflections and musings and the goings on in the

        neighborhood

2. an illustrated lunchbox note

you can digitally pass on, print, or keep

3. a link and my thoughts and tips to an easy recipe, activity, or craft

to nurture that child-like soul on the weekend or whenever your home

4. an inspiration from home

an image from my  photographic wanderings.  a visual

celebration of Home, the world and everything in-between in all its forms.

I believe that everyone has a childlike artist within waiting to be nurtured—and what better place to do so than within the comforting embrace of Home.
