Wasn’t it just summer? I looked around and poof—there were all the back-to-school signs, supplies, and of course, lunchboxes everywhere. Even though it’s been about five years since my youngest was a senior in high school, I still get nostalgic when I see all the school supplies. Pencil cases, glue sticks, scissors… but my favorite thing to spot has always been the lunchboxes.

I don’t collect retro lunchboxes (though I’d love to!), but I had a few metal ones when I was little. Then came the 1980s plastic versions with a thermos inside. I had The Muppets—I was a big Miss Piggy fan—Holly Hobbie (with the matching watch!), Strawberry Shortcake, and of course, my beloved Barbie lunchboxes.

What about you? What do you remember about back-to-school season? I’d love to hear—just hit reply so we can connect over something other than chocolate milk from school.

🏡 Tiny World Mini Paper Lunchbox- Printable

Back-to-school season always stirs up a swirl of nostalgia for me—especially those iconic lunchboxes. To bring a little of that magic into your home, I’ve created a Tiny World–style mini paper lunchbox craft you can print, color, cut, and assemble with your little ones (or just for fun yourself!).

It’s shaped like one of my whimsical Tiny World houses, complete with a roof, cozy windows, and a front door that’s ready for adventure. ✨

Perfect for tucking a tiny note or treat inside.

Foldable paper house template with cut and fold guides. Features a quaint house design; labeled "Tiny World by Marissa Villescas".

🥪 Make Your Own Mini Paper Lunchboxes- back-to-school-crafts

Back-to-school season always brings a rush of memories for me—especially those iconic lunchboxes. So, why not turn that nostalgia into a fun craft you can make with your little ones?

These tiny paper lunchboxes are easy to create and perfect for imaginative play, decorating a shelf, or tucking a surprise note or treat inside.

What You’ll Need:

• Cardstock or thick paper

• Scissors

• Glue stick or double-sided tape

• Markers, crayons, or colored pencils

• Ribbon or string for handles (optional)

• A printable lunchbox template (link coming soon!)

How to Make Them:

1. Print & Cut: Print out the lunchbox template on cardstock and carefully cut along the outer edges.

2. Decorate: Let your kids (or your inner child!) go wild decorating the lunchbox. Draw favorite characters, doodle patterns, or add stickers.

3. Fold & Glue: Fold along the dotted lines and glue or tape the tabs to assemble the box shape.

4. Add Handles (Optional): Punch two small holes at the top and thread ribbon through for a classic lunchbox handle.

5. Fill & Play: Once dry, your mini lunchbox is ready for imaginative adventures. You can fill it in with tiny notes, or other delights.

Tip- use these as a whimsical way to surprise someone

Freshly prepared cinnamon rolls (recipe by King Arthur) are ready for the oven. I can almost taste them already. What delightful after-school treat do you enjoy making?
